Job Summary

The purpose of the position is to conduct and coordinate complex background investigations of individuals and/or businesses seeking licensing and /or vendors seeking vendor contracts in the gambling industry. This position is guided by MN state statues 299L.07, 349A.07, 240.06 and 349.15.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least three years of professional experience conducting background investigations, with specific experience investigating applicants for organizations such as the Gambling Control Board, Minnesota Racing Commission, Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities we will interview for:

  • Working knowledge of state and federal gambling laws, licensing, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear documentation of investigative findings.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent investigations.
  • Basic math skills for evaluating financial documents related to licensure.
  • Willingness to travel statewide and out- of- state for on-site investigations.
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Skilled in structured interviewing to assess credibility and gather detailed information.
  • Familiarity with the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act and data privacy regulations.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting 50 pound items and frequently moving and transporting objects such as heavy tools and heavy file boxes. This job may require positioning self to move to a significant degree across rough terrain or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
