Description Your role at MOBE MOBE is seeking a talented and motivated Data Scientist to join our team. This role will focus on leveraging data-driven insights to improve healthcare outcomes and optimize interventions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare data, particularly medical and pharmacy claims, as well as experience in assessing the impact of intervention programs. Your role will require collaboration with cross-functional teams, including medical professionals, business leaders, and IT personnel, to uncover new opportunities and drive decision-making processes.
The MOBE Data Science team creates value by building systems of intelligence that cut across these data sources. Examples of past work include ER and Hospitalization risk models, optimizing the timing of outbound engagement efforts, and refining our contract performance methodology using causal inference (i.e. propensity score matching).
You will share your insights with business stakeholders across the organization to help grow our company and shape our culture. The MOBE Data Science team encourages strategic thinking, innovative ideas, and cutting-edge technology/tooling.

Responsibilities - Leverage Advanced Analytics : Utilize statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze healthcare data (including medical and pharmacy claims) to derive actionable insights. Develop predictive models to support data-driven decisions such as participant prioritization, utilization reduction, and other clinical and operational improvements.
- Enhance and Maintain Model Ecosystem: Modernize and expand the model portfolio by building retraining pipelines, developing alternative modeling approaches, and implementing champion-challenger frameworks to ensure optimal models are consistently deployed to production.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with data engineers, marketers, clinicians, and product stakeholders to identify high-impact opportunities, define project objectives, and communicate insights and recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Position Requirements Qualifications Required - Bachelor's degree in quantitative discipline (e.g., economics, engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics)
- Able to work in a hybrid role (3 days in Reno office / 2 days at home).
- Strong proficiency in SQL
- Strong proficiency in Python, with hands-on experience using libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, SpaCy, Hugging Face, etc.
- Experience developing, validating, and deploying machine learning models in production environments within healthcare contexts
- Knowledge of version control (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines for machine learning models.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical findings to clinical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred - 5 - 7 years of relevant experience or equivalent
- In-depth understanding of healthcare data (e.g., medical claims, ICD10 codes, CPT/DRG codes, etc.) and experience building models within a healthcare setting.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP. Knowledge of building dbt models a plus
- Experience using Docker, Kubernetes, or MLFlow for managing and deploying models
- Experience with NLP techniques and working with LLMs (I.e. leveraging AWS Bedrock, etc.) for text-based healthcare applications
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly) and dashboarding tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
