Job Summary

The Asset Protection Investigator will be critical to the success of the Asset Protection team at the Lululemon Columbus distribution center. The Investigator will develop and execute Asset Protection investigation initiatives that focus on protecting our people and assets, maintaining a safe and secure environment for our distribution center employees and guest while educating distribution center teams on ways to minimize safety or security related investigation incidents and shrink.

Duties/Responsibilities

The Investigator is responsible for the overall inventory shortage performance and total execution of the Asset Protection Strategy for their respective DC. This role will ensure that all company policies, local, state, and federal laws are adhered to in the execution of internal and external theft investigations or inquiries. They will be working collaboratively with customer and associate groups within the store to ensure all objectives are clearly communicated and executed.

  • Create and drive DC investigation strategies to reduce unwanted criminal activity while identifying trends and patterns to cultivate investigation leads internally and externally to support the business.
  • Complete the prosecution process: report to police, case reports, attend court and testify as required.
  • Develop and elevate the skillsets of field-based specialists and investigators.
  • Develop partnerships with law enforcement agencies at local, state, and federal levels, as well as collaborate with industry peers and other retail loss prevention ORC organizations to identify, investigate and prosecute subjects that are impacting the market.
  • Conduct static and mobile surveillance.
  • Work complex field & fence investigations, case development and resolution.
  • Must ensure privacy/confidentiality in all communications and placement (proximity to termination, line of sight, etc.) to only those with a business need to know.
  • Effectively communicate with all supporting parties
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • At least three years’ experience in ORC investigations in retail or distribution centers
  • Bachelors’ degree preferred.
  • Communication skills – strong ability to tell your story (written and verbally) to powerfully teach other the skills to support our ORC strategy. Strong documentation and case-building skills.
  • Certified or demonstrated ability in addressing retail theft at strategic level, conducting complex external investigations with history of success, and a basic working knowledge of physical security and protection strategy.
  • Analytical skills – ability to identify, document, and create data/powerful metrics involving all external theft patterns and trends amongst the assigned area.
  • Innovative thinker – ability to propose new tactics to mitigate theft and get the buy-in from the appropriate business partners.
  • Sound decision maker – be agile, balance multiple priorities and make the best decision to support our teams and the business goals must haves.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and other electronic reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of general physical inventory process, calculation, and control particularly as it relates to shrinkage
  • Technical knowledge of loss prevention programs and strategies to identify problems and solutions to gain the confidence of others.
  • Maintain accurate report records and case building documentation.
  • Input and document theft incidents into client case management systems
  • Must be flexible & available on short notice to support the needs of the business.
