This leadership role is located in San Diego, CA and will report to the Sr Director of Vehicle Engineering.Job summary: This role provides functional, strategic and operational leadership to the Vehicle Engineering (VE) directorate of employees at multiple sites across a variety of aircraft development and sustaining disciplines such as configuration, aerodynamics, propulsion, guidance, navigation and controls, loads and dynamics, mechanisms, fluid systems, electrical systems, materials and processes, structures, liaison engineering and tools development. Successful leadership of this organization will require agile staffing, driving competitiveness through development and deployment of world-class people, processes, tools, and products. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:Provides leadership, shape strategic vision and direction, and oversight of all major functions within VEHigh-level responsibilities including risk management, schedule and cost status/reviews, budget management, and program- level briefings to leadership and/or customersLong-range strategic planning and all aspects of functional homeroom performanceProvides ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support divisions and programs to achieve their missionsOverseeing program/project reviews, NCTA and Indirect activities, process improvement plans, proposal review and signoff, and capital planning and managementMay assist in proposal support, independent technical reviews, program standup reviews, technical audits, and sector operating objective executionThe successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to plan, estimate, organize, integrate, and manage technical activities and organizations a fast-paced, high-performing contractor/government environment with quantifiable results and accomplishments. Finally, We pioneer: setting a vision that shapes the future and inspires others.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 12 years of related experience, OR Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related experienceExperience in a vehicle engineering disciplineExperience providing technical leadership over an engineering teamExperience with program/project reviews, process improvement plans, proposal reviews, and capital planningMust have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous EvaluationMust have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time, as determined by business needsPreferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in an engineering or management discipline5 years of management experience leading a team of engineersExperience on NCTA / IRAD programsExperience developing sourcing strategies to include soliciting/analyzing requests for proposals, negotiating contracts and coordinating supplier integration plansExperience creating presentations and briefing executive leadershipExperience interfacing with a DoD customerExperience working with unmanned air vehiclesAbility to collaborate within a team and across team environmentsAbility to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish desired resultsAbility to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutionsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsSalary Range: $209,600.00 - $314,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
