Our client, a teaching hospital serving an ethnically diverse residential neighborhood of New York City, is a Director of Security . The Security Director describes the methods of providing security for people, equipment, and other materials through risk assessment and management. Security incidents are often intentional.

Security protects individuals and property against harm or loss, including workplace violence, theft, infant abduction, and unrestricted access to medications. Responsible for monitoring all aspects of the Security Program. This position advises the EOC Committee, regarding security issues that may necessitate changes to policies & procedures, orientation or education, or expenditure of funds

Requirements:

· The Security Director provides department heads with assistance in developing department

· security programs or policies.

· Manages the security risk assessment process for the hospital the organization and offsite

· facilities.

· This individual is designated to manage risk, coordinate risk reduction activities in the physical

· environment, collect deficiency information, & disseminate summaries of actions and results.

· The Security Director assures compliance with applicable codes and regulations.

· The Security Director coordinates the identification program.

· The Security Director works with leadership to identify security-sensitive areas by utilizing risk

· assessments and analysis of incident reports. A security-sensitive area is defined as one that has special security needs beyond the general hospital areas.

· Typically, this will be due to issues such as vulnerable patients, financial issues, drug issues,

· and access to protected information and critical equipment.

· The Security Director coordinates the development of hospital-wide written security policies and procedures and provides assistance to department heads in the development of departmental security procedures, as requested.

· These policies and procedures include infant and pediatric abduction, workplace violence,

· and other events that are caused by individuals from either inside or outside the hospital.

· The Security Director also assists department heads in the development of new department security procedures.

· The Security Director coordinates the triennial and interim reviews of organization-wide procedures with department heads and other appropriate staff and works with department heads to review departmental security policies and procedures.

· Upon notification of a security incident, the Security Director will assess the situation & implement the appropriate response procedures. The Security Director will notify the Administration if necessary, to obtain additional support.

· Every 12 months, the Security Director evaluates the scope, objectives, performance, and effectiveness of the Plan to manage the utility system risks to the staff, visitors, and patients.

· Develops and presents an annual budget for the department's expenditure ensuring that all projected costs reflect the department's operations and that provisions are made 

· Maintains professional linkages with the Police Department, local community groups, and other organizations to ensure a cooperative relationship in the protection and safety of hospital property and its employees.

· Violence in the workplace is a growing problem in healthcare. It is necessary for the Security

· Director to develop a program to address workplace violence.

Requirements:

· This position requires a minimum formal education of a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 7 years of job-related experience.

· Desired (not required) criteria include: College degree preferred 15 years experience in law enforcement with background in security systems.

· Three years’ experience as Director or Assistant Director in a hospital environment.

· License, New York State License & CPI 

Salary: $130,000-140,000. This range is not a guarantee. The actual salary will be based on qualifications, experience, and education and could fall outside of this range. Contact us for more information.
