Fulltime 40 Practitioner Assistant - Will work primarily Day shift - Monday-Friday - No weekends No Holidays No call

Purpose:
Provides direct and indirect care to patients utilizing skills acquired by an accredited Radiology Practitioner Program and certified by the Board of Radiology Practitioner Assistants.

Responsibilities: \n
    \n
  • Performs vascular access with direct supervision of a radiologist. Performs placement and removal of peripherally inserted central catheters with direct supervision of a radiologist Performs Venipuncture following hospital policy Performs Venograms with direct supervision of a radiologist Placement of Foley catheters and enteric tubes with direct supervision of a radiologist

  • Assists with procedures in surgery and sets up and operates equipment, takes radiographs as directed by the surgeon. Maintains adequate records as directed on requisitions, etc. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness. Secures and returns needed supplies.

  • Transfers and positions patients.
  • \n
  • Injections into major joints (shoulder, hip, knee) with direct supervision of a radiologist Injections into minor joints (wrist) with direct supervision of a radiologist

  • Provides protective devices as required.Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis. Selects and operates equipment as directed.Provides protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.

  • Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination.Performs quality assurance activities, as assigned.Demonstrates knowledge and ability to adapt to clinical treatment and instructional aspect of care to all stages of the life cycle and to various states of health and disease.

  • Perform fluoroscopic diagnostic procedures to include:Biliary tube checks Nephrostomy tube checks Gastric/G&J tube checks Port/Dialysis tube checks Fistulagram/Sinograms Loopograms Indwelling drainage catheter checks other than listed above: i.e. abscess drainage catheters, intraluminal and extraluminal drainage catheters with direct supervision of a radiologist.

  • Taking verbal and/or telephone orders from a Supervising Physician(s)

  • Ultrasound guided FNA/BX breast with direct supervision of a radiologist.Stereotactic core biopsy with direct supervision of a radiologistInjections for lymphoscintigraphy with direct supervision of a radiologistLumbar punctures with direct supervision of a radiologist

High school graduate or equivalent. 

\n

Must be an American Registered Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.)

\n

Must possess manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; must be able to adapt to all types of conditions of patients.

\n

Certified by the CBRPA or considered eligible for the CBRPA certification examination (must be certified with 12 months of graduation) or certified by the ARRT as a Registered Radiologist Assistant (RRA).

\n

Completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree Continuing education activities are required and are evidenced by current certification of the ARRT and CBRPA. Maintain a current BLS-CPR (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification. Should demonstrate that he/she has provided services to at least 200 patients during the past 12 months (time in clinical training can fulfill this requirement).

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
