Tax Accountant Role - Comfort Systems USA, Inc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in preparation of quarterly/annual federal and state income tax provision

(ASC 740) computations. Responsibilities include permanent and temporary difference analyses

• Assist in preparation of consolidated federal corporation income tax return. Responsibilities include preparation of tax adjustment workpapers, forms, statements, elections, etc.
• Prepare separate and combined (unitary) state income tax returns and related workpapers
• Prepare federal and state depreciation calculations, reconciliations, forecasts, etc.
• Prepare quarterly estimated payment and extension calculations for federal and state
• Assist with special projects related to tax provision, compliance, and audits
• Communicate with various states regarding notices, including uncollected refunds
• Identify and communicate process improvement opportunities
• Participate in research, planning, and special projects
• Assist with indirect tax (sales and use tax and property tax) and unclaimed property issues, as needed.
• Provide treasury backup assistance. Responsibilities include same day and previous day cash reconciliations and depositing checks, as needed.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills; organizational and time management skills; ability to think independently, taking ownership and initiative; an attention to detail; and a sense of urgency
• Must be able to work overtime and weekends when required

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a 4-year college or university
• Minimum 1+ years work experience including experience with corporate income tax provision and compliance
• CPA or CPA-eligible
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Knowledge of ONESOURCE Tax Provision, ONESOURCE Income Tax, and Sage Fixed Assets software helpful
